Charles Perrault was a French poet, prose writer, and storyteller in the 17th and 18th Century. He played a large part in the quarrel of the Ancients and Moderns, a literary dispute in the 17th century, that fought against the notion that classic literature of Greece and Rome was the only models of excellence and is best known for his collection of stories, Tales of  Mother Goose.
