Hello and Welcome!

Hi I’m Sarah 🙂

I have held positions over the years in a variety of different libraries. Over the past 5 years I have been working as a Library Assistant at Brisbane City Council in the Bracken Ridge Library.

Currently I am working part time, so one of my goals is to gain full-time hours. I am also currently working through a progression at work to move into a Library Technician role.

I would love to in the future to be either a Library Tech or Librarian within Brisbane Libraries, ideally at my current branch.

I have always been very interested in the children and youth services, and this is one aspect of my current position that I really enjoy getting involved with. In the future I would be very interested to work as a children and youth librarian.

This site contains numerous professional development activities I have undertaken since 2017, when I commenced the Bachelor of Information Studies. All of these activities have been offered through my current position at Brisbane Libraries.

Professional Networking Philosophy Statement

As a professional working within the information field, continuing professional development is vital. Professional development allows me to learn new skills and knowledge that I may not otherwise gain in my current position. What I learn through professional development activities, I then have the opportunity to integrate it into my current position as Library Assistant at Brisbane City Council.

Professional networking allows me to connect with others in the field, learn from their experiences and to build professional relationships that could bring forth further opportunities in the future.

Although I have worked for several years now as a library professional, they have all been in entry level positions. This has given me a good foundation, but I am at a point now of wishing to advance my career and to take on more challenging positions. I would like to achieve this whilst still working with Brisbane City Council, but I would be open to other opportunities if they arose.
