Abstract
In today’s world, the deployment of wireless network in enterprise environment has been on the increase. Many organization are fast adopting the concept of deploying wireless network. In some cases, it has become the primary means of connectivity. Some of the factors responsible for this speedy adoption are lower cost of deployment, ease of connection and wider coverage in spots where wired connections are unavailable. Amidst all of this benefits is potential wireless security issue due to its unbounded nature.
Wireless broadcast cannot be contained – hence it provides a platform for access to both legitimate and unauthorized users. Illicit activities can be easily perpetrated by illegitimate users due to this broadcast features.
This paper will seek to provide ways by which enterprise wireless networks can be secured. It will examine wireless threat via case studies and carrying out tests in a lab environment. Best practice configuration will also be recommended as a means of safeguarding the network.
This paper will also focus on wireless client security implementation and configuration. It will also look at how attack surfaces can be reduced or eliminated not just from infrastructure perspective but also from the wireless client stance.
