Something About My Data Science Project

Good day! Pleased to meet you~

My name is Joe and I am completing my Master degree course in Data Science and Software Design & Development.

I am a radiographer who has a strong background in clinical especially in general x-ray and MRI imaging. Thus, I am planning to conduct a project that is inspired by the potential of AI in detecting abnormalities in medical images – ‘Breast Cancer Detection – Convolutional Neural Network in Digital Mammogram’.

Mammography screening is a common practice especially for women who are age of 40 and above worldwide for breast cancer early detection. However, mammogram interpretation is a time consuming and error-prone process. Therefore, the aim of this project is to build a convolutional neural network (CNN) model to identify cancerous regions within digital mammograms accurately which I hope it can assist the radiologist in improving diagnostic accuracy meanwhile reducing interpretation time and manpower.

Even though I have strong knowledge in diagnostic imaging, I found that I am still very new in data science and coding. I hope by doing this project, it can improve my data science and coding understanding.
