Description of activity

The subject area of the activity was about linked data and semantic web. The activity was a three hours symposium with Q & A session which organized by Hong Kong Baptist University Library. The speakers were Dr. Philip E. Schreur, Ms Xia Cuijuan, Mr. Ki Tat Lam and Dr. Sophy Shu-jiun Chen. This symposium was for local library professionals.

 

Reflection of activity

The objective of the activity was to provide updates on the development of BIBFRAME and linked data projects. I have attended the symposium because I want to learn about linked data. After attending the symposium, I knew library community are developing linked data projects to optimize the discovery and exchange of data. The symposium enriched my studies of cataloguing. I learnt the differences between traditional library catalogue and implementing linked data catalogue, the characteristics and advantages of bibliographic linked data. I will use the learning gained to my cataloging subject.
