Get Connected

HDR Connect

It helps you and helps others!

Our HDR students tell us that they often feel isolated, like they don’t belong, or have no connections with their fellow researchers. This can lead to feelings of doubt, uncertainty and even to withdrawal. Connecting with others who are sharing the same journey and who may be feeling the same way is a great way to build friendships, support networks and confidence.

Meeting your peers, sharing your concerns, asking the burning questions, celebrating your achievements or just having a chat. HDR Connect is the online place for HDR students to connect.

When? Fortnightly on Wednesday at 6.00-7.00pm AEDT
Where? It’s online so you can be anywhere!  Use this zoom link to join.
Who? It’s mainly for HDR candidates but we welcome anyone who is on a research journey: whether you are an Honours student just starting out or an experienced researcher willing to share your wisdom.

REACH P2P: HDR Peer-to-peer mentoring

Are you a new or early-stage HDR candidate and feeling like you might like a bit of support, someone to bounce ideas off or ask questions about the expectations? REACH P2P peer-to-peer mentoring program might be just what you need.
New programs commence each session and it’s never too late to join as a mentee or a mentor.  Learn more about the program HERE.

Starting out on your HDR journey can be challenging and for many students’ feelings of anxiety, ‘imposter syndrome’ and confusion can hamper progress.
REACH P2P mentors provide valuable advice, feedback and support across the first 12-18 months of your candidature. It isn’t intended to replace your supervisors, nor to give academic advice, but a mentor will provide you with a friend, ally and support as you find your way.

Lunchtime Research Raves

Another great way to connect with fellow research students is our Lunchtime Research Raves.

Held online at 12.30-1.30pm on the 4th Monday of each month, this informal session includes discussion forums, guest speakers and student research presentations and is a great place to ‘rave’ about research with fellow students.

It’s co-hosted by the Post-graduate Student’s Association (PGSA) and there’s no need to book, just grab some lunch and login here!
