ABOUT THE ABC TOP 5
The ABC TOP 5 is for early-career PhD scholars with a passion for communicating their work to non-academic audiences.
Each year, ABC Radio National puts out a call to Australia’s higher education sector and research organisations to find the TOP 5 PhD scholars in three categories:
- Humanities
- Science
- Arts
The three media residencies are designed to develop the communication skills — providing researchers with the skills to share their knowledge and expertise with audiences seeking credible information and informed debate.
The researchers-in-residence in each of the three categories get to spend two weeks on site working alongside the ABC’s award-winning journalists and producers, in television, and digital platforms.
Program graduates are equipped with career-long skills, knowledge, and confidence to communicate with media and their audiences about their field of expertise.
