What type of a leader am I?

We were asked to complete the Conflict resolution questionnaire and reflect on our responses in our blog.

What is your approach to managing conflict?

Looking at the results from the Dutch Test for Conflict Handling I found that I am willing to yield, happy to compromise, willing to be forceful, keen to solve problems and very keen to avoid conflict.

Does this match to how you think of yourself?

If you had asked me what I was like I would have agreed with three of these very keen to avoid conflict, happy to compromise and keen to solve problems.  I am surprised that my score on forcing was so high, though this is probably more in a personal setting than a professional setting.

What areas do you think you need to develop?

I know I need to deal with conflict better than I do.  I don’t like to upset people and unless something is truly important to me I am willing to compromise to maintain the peace.  I also know that the more comfortable I am the more willing I am to stand up and make myself heard.  I need to develop this to make sure that I don’t lose my ability to compromise once I am comfortable in a situation.
