Assessment 5- Persausive Post
Although not everyone will agree, I want to present the idea of “Unethical human activity is primarily responsible for a lack of privacy and safety on the internet”. This is not true. It is the social media and internet programs that lack the privacy and safety. Each program has their own set up for their privacy policies, some may not be as private as you think unless you read all of it even the fine print. How they have tracking programs, you do not know how safe they are even if the government says to get it. The fact that human activity cannot control that several companies are sharing between each other, peoples information.
I have several reasons for thinking this, my first being the fact of talking about something then you get ads later about it. For instance, when you and your family or friends could be searching things on google or even talking about them, such as booking a hotel for your holiday or things to buy for your house or friends, then you go on social media just like Facebook and all the adds through your news feed is of that exact thing you were looking at 10 minutes ago. This shows that several companies are linked with each other and once you look up something on one program, all the ads that appear on the others will be of that exact thing. This is not caused by human activity; this is the social media and internet programs that are responsible for these actions. Human activity is not responsible for this situation of having lack of privacy and safety.
In addition, the lack of safety and privacy is due to the government having programs for tracking individuals, whether it is just for a sickness spreading or to maintain people are obeying by the rules. There is a mobile phone industry that has explored to create a global data sharing- system that can track individuals around the world. There is at least one company that is capable of tracking individuals through their mobile devices. Governments are making a sharing-system, so they can track people with their mobile phone location to help stop the spread of Covid-19 virus. They want to use this app program to track individuals to maintain the spread of the disease but also be able to see where it came from and who had been involved with the contagious person. But how do you know that is all they are using it for, they could be using it to track individuals if they are in trouble by the police or anything. The app my not even be locked probably by the government, for privacy that only they can see it, it could be where individuals could download it and then could hack it to be able to start stalking people. For example their could be paedophiles out their that know how to hack things and if the government doesn’t have their programs such as an app from the Appstore , like this one is, locked for the privacy levels then those people could then start getting stalked and hurt, not because of human activity but because the government brought some tracking location app out and didn’t have it locked so others don’t get in.
To further support my point, that companies sharing peoples private information like Mark Zuckerberg shared private user data with Facebook friends. Mark gave access of users data to dozens of app developer friends. Mark supposedly used the data as a reward to third party companies and developers who spent reasonable amount on ads. Facebook exposed 87 million users to Cambridge Analytica. None of this can be the human activities fault for lack of privacy and safety, when they are not the ones, sharing peoples data around to several people that are in big companies to look at. This is all on the people who run these companies, the internet programs and social medias, fault for the lack of these privacy and safety restrictions.
As I stated in my introduction, is “Unethical human activity primarily responsible for the lack of privacy and safety on the internet”. From using my three points, which were, different programs syncing with each other so once you search something you get ads for it, to governments making tracking apps not knowing exactly how it will get used. To lastly companies sharing individuals information with each other. I think I have shown you proof that this cannot be the human activities responsibility for lack of privacy and safety, as this is all the companies who run the internet programs, social media and governments who decide to make these tracking apps. They are the ones in fault for these responsibilities, as no dishonest human activity can do these things.
Assessment 3- Podcast
I created my podcast by first writing out a script on what I would say, so I didn’t forget anything or stuff up in the middle of recording. The programs I used to create my podcast were Spreaker and Bensound. Spreaker was used to record myself and add the music through the recording. Bensound was used to find music I would like to use in my recording of my podcast.
Assessment 2: What? So What? Now What?
After I Completed the ‘Connect Skills Test’ Quiz it became clear to me that my digital literacy turns out to be a bold beginner.
I have made a Facebook account so I can connect to my friends and family that live close and far. To be able to keep contact of how they are what they have been doing with there lives. Can also get pictures sent to me as well of the adventures or just them or the kids. Having made this account can also have discussions about things and find out news that’s happening around the world. I have also made an Instagram account, to be able to just see photos of friends and family, just to see how much they are changing. I’ve also just recently made a LinkedIn profile really because we had to for an assignment but I can connect you to people (I don’t know or do know) that are in the same profession that I want to be in. Which helps if I have a question about something, I can ask them to have more insight on things in the industry. My Facebook account shows my ability is good as that I have a lot of people that I have connected to throughout the years. My ability is good to connect to people online as it’s not hard to just send someone a message to get to know them or just to say play a game with my that’s on the internet.
Connecting online is important because it helps you keep in contact with those friends and family that live far away from you that you can’t just meet up downtown. It’s also important to connect online for the fact that if you have a business you can post things online to let people know your around, so it helps get more clients coming in. Its also important for if you are looking for a certain place/business you can see online where they are in the area and get their contact to either ring up or email them. Its important connecting so you find out news around the world or how people are doing with their lives. My new knowledge I have to help me understand how to connect and be able to do this better is that we made a professional profile and had to add people in our profession we want to do so we can connect to them to get more information about what we want to do. Learnt new little tricks about things on the internet we can do/use to be able to connect to people better and the things we can do together why we connected online instead of having to try and meet up or what days before we can see others that live hours away.
Setting up my LinkedIn profile I had some ah-ha moments, such as trying to connect to certain people, just working out what to write about myself to put on my page. My ambitions and plans to move forward with connecting using my profiles are to start connecting with more people around the world and learn from their perspective of what it is to live there, how things are done and compare their lives with my life. To send photos to people to see how their land and buildings look, to see their countries view. Using my digital tools for online connecting to have a page for discussions, to see what others points of views are on things. This will support me as a digital online learner as your using digital utensils to do these things to connect to those to find out bits and pieces, while talking to these people they can still help you learn other digital items to do other things.
