Digital Literacy Video and Reflection

I watch YouTube regularly, and there are many creators who’s channel’s I subscribe to so I can keep up to date with their videos. I’ve never thought much about the editing of these videos, or how much work is put into them until having to create my own video for this Digital Literacy assignment.

The easiest part was filming myself doing my makeup, but things started to get a little difficult when I had to cut down 47 minutes of footage to fit in a 5 minute video.

I began by exporting the footage to iMovie and watching through my tutorial and cutting out footage I didn’t think was necessary. This left me with about 23 minutes of footage, however, I knew I could save time by speeding up some of the content.

I then recorded my voiceover, and found copyright free music I could add to the background of the video.

The finishing touch was adding my thumbnail, which I created myself using Canva.

It took many failed attempts, lots of researching and watching other videos, but I’m impressed with how I was able to teach myself how to use the software to create what I think is a decent first attempt at creating and editing my own video.
