I’m a teacher librarian at a Sydney primary school studying a Master’s degree to become a qualified teacher librarian. This is my web guide. Children today are saturated with digital technology. They need to learn appropriate ways to navigate around the Internet. This web guide on digital citizenship in the curriculum focuses on a person’s digital footprint – EVERYTHING posted online (no matter how big or small) has the potential to stay online forever, even after deciding to delete it. Therefore, students need to be taught digital etiquette when posting online as their present-day posts can be viewed in the future and interpreted in a positive or negative way by a future employer when entering the workforce as an adult.
The following topic links are covered throughout the web guide:
- Being a digital citizen
- Our digital footprint
- Sequence of content, introductory videos and lesson ideas for primary school teachers
- Check before you click – Personal digital artefact
Users can also refer to the drop-down category box titled digital footprint pages when navigating through the web guide.
