Week #3- Digital Technology & Learning

My thought process in creating this comic strip was to focus more on the thoughts and feelings of students, as well as the language that would be present in a Constructivist classroom using technology. I was limited by free options offered by the Pixton platform which is why there is not a lot of technology present in the comic. If it were available, I would have had students holding their iPad’s. a preview of the Wiki displayed on the interactive whiteboard, and students at various seating arrangements to encourage collaboration (beanbags, circle table, chairs, standing desks, outdoor seating).

I think my comic strip demonstrates a Constructivist classroom using technology as it:

  • provides a framework to learn from others using group collaboration.
  • presents students with an opportunity to establish their understanding of dinosaurs, then encountering new ideas and new perspectives from other groups in their class.
  • requires students to evaluate new information while monitoring the “Comments” section and reassess what they know.

I tried to highlight a classroom task where knowledge is constructed by the individual and is dynamic and changing, rather than something that is finite and complete (Harasim, 2017).
