WELCOME (a bit about me)

Hi, I’m Tasmiah! lover of lifelong learning and public libraries, and at the tail of my Bachelor of Information Studies degree with a Librarianship specialization.

As someone who has taken a winding path in life, born to Bengali parents, migrating to Zimbabwe, followed by Botswana, Aotearoa (New Zealand), and settling in Warrang (Sydney), Australia, so too has my career path taken multiple directions leading me to the world of public libraries where I have finally found a sense of home. In this uncertain and defining time, some describe as the polycrisis, metacrisis or chthulucene, building strong communities and making meaningful connections is what calls to me.

I see myself realizing this call through working in public libraries where I feel I may root more deeply into my values, and harness the lessons and creativity of the diverse experiences that have made me who I am today, to help build, strengthen, and connect diverse communities.
