About Me
Wominjeka!
Hello, my name is Emma and I live in Naarm/Melbourne. Wominjeka means hello or welcome in Woi Wurrung language of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation.
I am in my third year as a Teacher Librarian at an independent school, after teaching secondary English and Humanities for six years. Before teaching, I had a brief stint in journalism and publishing. I also work closely with a small NGO school in Kathmandu, Nepal for kids living in the Basundhara slums and have been supporting the school since 2014. I am passionate about the intersection of creativity, education, literacy, and social justice.
In 2022 I am commencing the Master of Education (Teacher Librarianship) through Charles Sturt University and am due to complete my studies in 2025. I am excited about the ways that libraries are transforming to expand offerings, incorporate digital resources, increase collaboration, and support community wellbeing.
Thanks for stopping by!
