In this week the milestone that had been set was to identify some of the major challenges in terms of AR and healthcare. The planning for this week was done keeping in mind that few articles related to the project topic will be evaluated. It is found that the healthcare personnel need continuous information and thus it is necessary for them to get the information without any handheld device. This is a perspective that can be categorized in terms of project work that is being developed.

According to Klinker et al. (2020), there are some points in time for healthcare professionals in which they are using both their hands and need information. This is something that can also be used in Mobile healthcare as elderly may get their hands busy. 16/03/2021 The solution that is developed by the authors is a AR based smart glasses in the same manner AR can be integrated in mobile healthcare that can provide information without any hands on.  Yes

For this week I decided that I will develop my understanding on the application of AR and thus I thought of taking out some relevant literatures from the library that I can use to know more about AR and its related application in Healthcare. I planned that first I will read two articles related to any AR technology that is being used in healthcare or any research that has been done previously on AR. This would help me to understand the topic that I have chosen in a better way. I got to read two articles in which I understood the following things –

·         According to Ronquillo et al. (2020), by 2050 there will be older adults and thus AR based application in healthcare can prove to a lot beneficial.

·         The AR based applications can also help in increasing the quality of life.

I was able to identify that the idea of project is feasible and it will have significant value in consideration to the future aspects that has been evaluated from the literatures read.

According to Rossi et al. (2020), it was found that the people that are affected by cognitive decline is increasing. 13/03/2021 The actions taken by the author it to find AR based application that can help people that are losing their cognitive abilities.  Yes

About me

Hello

I’m Venkatesh Kasthala. I have done my bachelors in Electronics and communication engineering and I’m currently  pursuing my master’s in the stream of Computer Networking .In Emerging Technology and Innovation my project is on Human Computer Interaction.

Project Brief

Title: Review of Augmented reality-based user interfaces for mobile healthcare of elderly patients

Abstract

Problem

The use of hardware technology in developing augmented reality-based applications requires huge costing to meet the expected application effects. The use of AR technology in various applications requires high-speed computational capabilities of image processing.

Background

The user interface is defined as a medium of communication between human and machines for information transmission. Augmented reality-based user interfaces are helpful in enhancing the human-computer interaction in mobile healthcare for the care of elderly patients.

Aim

The main aim of this study is to review the augmented reality-based user interface that is used in mobile healthcare for elderly patients.

Deliverable outcomes

This work will provide a detailed description of Augmented reality-based user interfaces that can be used for mobile healthcare of elderly patients. This study will provide information about the effectiveness of AR-based approaches that can be used for elder healthcare.

Resources

Resources required for collecting the data for the review work includes the CSU library database. For collecting the relevant data, databases such as IEEE, Taylor & Francis, ScienceDirect, and Springer will be considered for data collection.
