Welcome to Ellie’s Adventures in Libraryland – a Thinkspace blog dedicated to my journey in becoming a teacher-librarian
I have loved the library since my memories begin -I still have my first library bag! I grew up in a small island village with a population of about 250 people and going into town each week was a wonderful adventure to connect to the outside world (I was born just before the internet). My lovely mother would let me spend as long as I liked in the local community library picking books to take home to keep me entertained and most of all, happy.
Fast forward 25 years, I am now living in a very big city and have worked as a TAS teacher since graduating from undergraduate studies at COFA/UNSW. It took me about five years to realise I was teaching in the wrong genre! I love knowledge, information, and graphics and illustration and teaching ‘technology’ was quite misleading. With recent curriculum changes, I have decided to take the leap and complete a Master’s in Education (Librarianship) via CSU.
I have always wanted to blog, but have never had the confidence or content to do so. I am SO incredibly excited to share my Adventures in Libraryland and look forward to all the wonderful new things I will be learning
