3. General reference sources

Reference sources give us information to answer questions.  They can be used to find facts about a variety of topics quickly because they are usually arranged alphabetically. A few examples of general reference sources are dictionaries, encyclopedias, and atlases. They can be in paper form as well as online versions and give accurate information.

This step of the Information Search Process is locating.

 


Britannica Library

This is an online library and will give you a wide range of reliable information including pictures, videos, and links to other websites explaining the topic. You can make the reading difficulty suit your level and you can use the site in the library, the classroom, or at home. Log in using our library access ID and passcode

Visual Dictionary Online

This dictionary will help you find the terms you are looking for through the use of illustrations. It uses dictionary-style descriptions and matches it with labeled, realistic pictures.
