Data Mining for Ambient Intelligence and Secure Communications
A workshop organised in conjunction with IEEE ICDM 2025, 12-15 November 2025, Washington DC, USA
In the era of pervasive computing, ambient intelligence (AmI) aims to create environments that are responsive, adaptive, and sensitive to human presence and behaviour. Leveraging advanced data mining techniques, AmI systems can extract meaningful patterns from vast and heterogeneous sensor data to support real-time decision-making and personalised services. However, the ubiquitous and interconnected nature of these systems also introduces significant communication and security challenges. This workshop explores how data mining can be strategically applied not only to enhance contextual awareness and system intelligence but also to ensure secure, trustworthy, and privacy-preserving communications in ambient environments. Topics of interest include anomaly detection, behavioural pattern mining, encrypted data analytics, intrusion detection, and trust-based models, fostering a multidisciplinary dialogue between experts in data science, cybersecurity, and intelligent systems.
