Assessment 4: ITC174 Video

I sat down with my story board template and drew up my slides and information. This was my starting point. To create my assessment 4 video, I used Powtoon. I found it very easy to use and after creating an account, I got to work. The first thing I had to do was to create an image or video for each slide. It was easy to add music as Powtoon has music to choose from on the website. I then recorded my narration for each side and added it. This took a while as had to re-record a few times. I then edited my video to adjust the length of each slide and also the sound of my music and narration. Most of my video was made by using Powtoon as the website has music, video, images and voice recording available. I did however use google a few times to find other images and videos relevant to what I needed for my own video. At this point my video was complete and I uploaded it to YouTube and then embedded it into my Thinkspace blog. This was a really enjoyable process and the Powtoon website is very easy to navigate.

Diagnostic Imaging Podcast

So, I just created my first podcast. I have never done anything like this before but the easiest part for me was my topic as it’s my passion. I did how ever need to write more than 650 words as when I timed myself, I didn’t reach 5 minutes but still had plenty to say. I used Audacity and after teaching myself how to use it. I recorded myself at least 50 times before getting it right. This was the hardest part. I was extremely frustrated as I have a few animals around my house, and I am sure you may hear a bird squawk or a dog bark somewhere along the way. I used Bensound to download my music which was so easy to use, and I will use it again. I then uploaded it to Audacity and decided to add it to the beginning of my podcast. I then downloaded my file from Audacity and uploaded it to Soundcloud and used google for my image. I then went to Thinkspace to embed it into my blog which in fact wasn’t too hard either. I enjoyed this assessment task and can see myself doing this again for another project.

Assessment Two – Blog Post

On reviewing my results of my profile outcome on the digital online learner skills framework area of “connect” I assumed that I was completely capable of using the internet to become a great digital learner and to create a professional digital profile. My results gave my confidence to use my learnt skills from modules 1 and 2 to carry on with my first assessment. Establishing a digital identity and creating a digital footprint sounds easy but it proved to be extremely difficult. I wanted “my brand” to show my best talents and highlight what I was good at. All of my results showed I was capable and that I was confident enough to attempt it. My results showed me that I am confident at managing my PLE. I rarely use online blogs and web-tools. I can track and manage my digital footprint and personal data. I am able to contribute to online spaces and share my ideas. I can locate and use a range of tools to collaborate virtually and I’m beginning to feel confident to construct a professional identity. It also showed me that I know where to locate materials to assist with online learning goals. I have previously used Seek to connect online with possible employers but don’t really use any other web-tools to connect with colleagues, peers or mentors. I have only recently created my LinkedIn “persona” for the first assessment in this module. Connecting online is important because the world is changing dramatically and most of your day to day activities can now be done online. It is also important to keep up to date with online platforms and web-tools because it will be our future. I now understand how to connect and approach the internet by creating my own digital foot print and professional profile that will get me connected on more online platforms, but also realize that the way I portray myself can either help me or be my undoing. I have experienced the LinkedIn community and the connections you can make with people to find work or speak with people to search for things to get a better understanding of what you are interested in. I have also used things like google to search for information, Whats App to chat with friends, Gumtree to purchase odds and ends, Snap-chat to also chat with friends, Youtube to watch videos and get ideas and Pinterest to find information and ideas. I really was confused and caught off guard when I created my personal profile as I thought this would be the easiest thing I have ever had to do, but I quickly found out that I was a bit to big for my boots. I realized that it pays to have a professional online profile to be able to connect with people, and the more people you already have connections with the better so that you can connect with more people again. I found that it was very hard to connect with people you don’t know already as they wont connect with you especially on a professional level if they have no idea who you are. I also found it hard to navigate using the website LinkedIn but found quickly that if I followed the instructions it became easier as I continued building my page. I have decided to possibly change my “persona” at some stage and use my online profile to obtain work and or relationships with peers and colleagues for future purposes. I also want to explore more digital tools that can be used to benefit me in the future with university and other endeavors I wish to pursue. This will support me in the future to become a better digital learner and also show how my professional profile portrays who I really am.
