Introduction

This website has been created to introduce the concept of the Digital Learning Environment (DLE) to primary school leadership teams. Issues to consider are presented alongside research discussion, with the aim of providing guidance and support during the design process of an effective, personalised school DLE.

The following components will be covered:

  1. The Digital Learning Environment – A definition and discussion regarding theory
  2. Practice – Discussion regarding responsible technology use and the place of ‘Digital Citizenship’ in the DLE
  3. Connect  – What is a connected educator/learner?
  4. Design – Design and implementation ideas for a thriving DLE
  5. Resources – Further reading and support documents

Upon completion, you will be expected to be able to:

  • Define and explain what a DLE is.
  • Identify and encourage responsible practice in a DLE.
  • Encourage and build collaborative learning networks within a DLE and globally.
  • Design and develop a successful DLE using suggestions and resources provided.
