What does this mean for educators? Where do we go from here and what are the next steps?
Step 1: Create your digital learning environment. Select what tools you implement. Determine your digital identity and guiding principles for online interactions. Identify guiding documents from a governance perspective.
Step 2: Get digitally organized. To effectively communicate online educators must create a curation system that will allow you to organize your digital resources in Youtube, Google Drive, Gmail, Google Chrome bookmarks and extension.
Step 3: Start engaging in online learning through social media channels. Pick one, observe, participate and then contribute. Develop and expand your digital footprint and online identity in a positive way to contribute your ideas, passions and interests to the broader community. Start building your professional learning network using social media platforms.
Step 4: Educators must continually reflect on their practice asking themselves what is going well, what could be improved. Answering these questions will identify what can be shared with others to learn from and what information educators can be looking for through their digital networks.
