Hello, and welcome to my Deaf Dialogue: I Sign. I Teach. I Learn. page.
I am Sara Weir and I am an Auslan Teacher. I currently work at Melbourne Polytechnic in Melbourne, Victoria. I have been in this sector for the past four years and discovered my passion for Adult Education focusing specifically on Language, Literacy and Numeracy after working with Deaf migrants and successfully completing my Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. I initially started my University studies in Psychology, and transferred to Primary Education afterwards but later realised I prefer to teach adults. Adult learners come with their own set of knowledge and I enjoy exchanging knowledge with them.
I hope to not only gain my university level qualification in Adult Education, but to work in the sector as a better equipped educator in my chosen field and share my expertise with my learners.
In my spare time, I enjoy tidying my pantry using the Marie Kondo tidying method. A tidy pantry really does spark joy! I can also be found hiking and creating mixed media art.
I look forward to learning and engaging with my fellow peers who will bring with them a wealth of experience and come from a diverse range of backgrounds.
