Guidelines for Authors
The aim of the CISAC student page is to showcase high-quality researched and written essays from students undertaking Islamic Studies through Charles Sturt University. The highest achieving essays will be posted onto the CISAC student page, providing an opportunity for students to experience virtual publication. The student page will also allow the general public to explore, read and gain knowledge of Islam, through the eyes of the students themselves.
Writing Guidelines
Although every author has a unique writing style, we’ve provided some guidelines to ensure consistency across the articles written for the CISAC Research page.
Submissions
Step One: If you have an HD essay you’d like to turn into an article, or if you have a new topic you’d like to explore, pitch it to us below.
When pitching, remember to focus on what makes your article worth publishing. For more information, take a look at the writing guidelines above.

Step Two: Once you’re ready, click the button below to submit your work.
Please note that while we would love to publish all submissions, only those which meet our criteria will be considered. Additionally, successful articles will be subject to feedback, and authors should expect some changes to their work.

Do I need to include a bio?
We want our readers to know who you are, and to give credit where credit is due, so providing a short bio about yourself is a must. Keeping it to 50-100 words, the bio should briefly introduce yourself, your profession (if applicable), what course you are studying, any international/exchange studies you may have undertaken, any previous qualifications and any volunteer/community work relevant to your studies.
It’d also be great to provide an image of yourself, however, we understand that not everyone is comfortable with that. If that is the case, feel free to not include an image.
Do I need to include references?
It’s important to demonstrate that your articles are academic in nature, and are properly researched. Because of this, we ask that submissions contain a reference list of at least 5-10 resources that are core to your article.
Note that all references should be in Chicago 16th Edition and include footnotes.
Should I follow a format when submitting?
Yes. To make it easy for CISAC staff to open, edit, and upload your work, please only submit Word documents, and ensure it is in Times New Roman font, size 12, and with double spacing.
All non-English words must be in italics. The English meaning must immediately follow, contained within brackets.
I've published my article somewhere else, can I still submit it to the CISAC page?
As long as you do not have any agreements to single publishing with other sites, you can still submit your work to the CISAC student’s page. Just be sure to include the link to the original article.
