Digital Citizenship Learning in Practice: A Unit Exemplar

The following narrated case study provides detail of how digital citizenship can be integrated into the curriculum via the example of a grade five social studies unit. It is a unit consisting of an embedded performance task where students where tasked with using the design process to create their own digital product and then create the parts of a system to allow online customers in the school community to access and purchase the products that the grade five students had designed.

Curriculum planning and standards are included as well as the learning experiences that allowed learners to seek proficiency. This includes the transdisciplinary skills and dispositions that were integral to the unit and reference to the various digital tools that were utilised.
