Module 1.1 – This novice’s approach to scaling a digital Everest

Module 1.1 – Bloom’s Questioning and Resourcing

Digital technologies and I have never been on the best of terms. The limit of our relationship has been me learning to send cool gifs and memes to friends in an attempt to somehow mimic 21st Century legitimacy. And although I have recently mastered the use of Bitmojis, there is still a digital Everest for me to climb.

As an information specialist on L plates, using scaffolds such as Bloom’s Taxonomy is an uncomplicated way to begin the journey to Base Camp. This activity has introduced me to Kathy Schrock and the SAMR model for integrating digital technologies into  Bloom’s Taxonomy. I am also starting to develop the necessary metalanguage to help narrow search terms and refine my thinking. Yep, let’s talk content creation. Whilst this may indicate that I have been living under a rock, don’t forget that I’ve only just bought my back pack for this Everest style trek.

This document represents a limited collection of digital tools that can be used to support the different levels of cognition outlined in Bloom’s Taxonomy. It includes apps and web based innovations that allow students to discover, organise and represent their thinking in powerfully creative ways.

I’m not sure that anyone truly reaches the summit of Digital Everest. The peak keeps shifting. However, I’m at Base Camp with my gaze firmly set above. What a great start!
