Refection of Online Learning

The ‘connect’ skills quizzes results evidently show that I have a lot to learn and a lot to work on in certain areas of digital literacy.  My main strengths are understanding how to connect with others online through the use of social networking/social media platforms, and understanding the importance of privacy when it comes to a persons digital footprint.

I have previously connected online with many other other professionals, colleagues and peers. the places in which In which I have connected with these peers include:

Facebook – https://www.facebook.com

LinkedIn – https://www.linkedin.com/in/bronte-cox-bb93911a4/

Instagram – https://www.instagram.com

These online networking platforms have allowed me to create my digital footprint and ‘brand of me’, I am highly content with the way that I have expressed and presented myself and believe that by the content I share/and or personally create, I have connected with a range of people who share the same interests as me or have had some positive impact on my me as a person.

By using the online learning tools provided by the ‘Interact 2’ website, I have been able to gain skills and understanding of digital literacy. this subject delves into the basics of learning online but also elaborates on digital literacy and the specifics of online learning as the weeks go by, giving the online learner time to adapt and understand the topic, as well as adjust to the difficulty of online learning skills and techniques. Online networking is important as it can be used as a tool for professional success. Through the use of social media and online networking sites, people can find jobs/new careers, and employers and businesses can also use these tools to advertise job opportunities. In saying this, it is crucial that individuals looking for work online, to keep their social networking profile not only presented professionally and appropriately, but also and updated frequently and maintained. A ‘linkedIn’ profile is a great start to creating professional success in finding a career which suits a persons interests. I have recently been introduced to, and have created my own linkedIn profile. Through doing this I now have a higher level of knowledge on the importance of creating a ‘professional profile’ for the success of my career in nursing in the future. on this profile I have already made several connections with nursing professionals, as well as other students either studying a similar course or have similar goals and passions as myself. I have also gained new knowledge on how I can connect online better by using my current social media profiles. I should update these by deleting any old posts or photographs which I do not believe represent my personal identity, or no longer have a place on my profile. To suit the audiences in which I wish to connect with and attract, it is important for me to now fill my profile with what truly represents me, my personal goals and interests etc.

Below is a diagram which visually represents the factors in which are directly related to digital literacy.
