My name is Benny Brownrigg, and I am a Library Services Officer(LSO) at the University of Queensland (UQ). My current role is a hybrid between Tier 1 IT (Password resets, basic troubleshooting and diagnosis, MFA and Academic Integrity Modules checking) plus library services (Locating resources in Primo, assisting students with loans and processing requests at different service points). Before working at UQ, I was an Order Remediation Consultant at Telstra, and in my early twenties, I worked as a Business Development Manager.
While backpacking for two years and living overseas during that time, I wanted a career change and decided that libraries would be the best fit due to my skill set and love of information and knowledge. My dream job within UQ is as a Digital Content Specialist, which centres around creating, managing and teaching digital library resources for students and staff. Once I have hit this milestone, I see myself leading a team as a Senior Manager.
