Here are some state by state resources to help you learn more about the birds in your area and what you can do to help.
Many government departments, organisations and community groups work together to admire, research, conserve and advocate for Australian bird life and as such, often have excellent resources, information and tools available to the public.
QLD:
Queensland Government: Department of Environment and Sciences is a government page pertaining to QLD wildlife, its ecosystems and the role of the government in managing them.
iNaturalist offers an excellent list on urban birds in and around the Brisbane area.
NSW:
NSW Government has its own page on specific birds in the Sydney region.
Best Bird Photos offers a full list of birds found in the state of New South Wales.
VIC:
Victoria State Government’s own information regarding all Victorian wildlife including those of the feathered kind.
Australian Geographic has an excellent guide to Urban Birdwatching in Melbourne and its surrounds.
SA:
Government of South Australia: Department for Environment and Water website regarding state plants and animals.
Landscape South Australia is an excellent website about all native plants, animals and biodiversity in SA. Check out there section on birds for excellent avian resources and data.
NT:
Northern Territory Government has a dedicated parks resources page with a great little section on birds.
Northern Territory: Nature and Wildlife includes a detailed section on NT birdwatching including species and key locations.
WA:
WA’s Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractionsoffers information and resources on state plants and animals, including bird life.
Urban Bushland Council WA Inc: Perth’s Bushland Birds is a community organisation and local association of over 75 local conservation groups and has some excellent information on WA birds.
TAS:
Tasmanian Government Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment offers a complete list of Tasmanian birds including birds specific to the state who are not found on the mainland.
