The SEED Initiative website by the NSW government is a central hub for state environmental datasets. It includes soil profiles, climatology, and geoscientific information, providing insight into the state of local environments. Provides an interactive map for easier research. An excellent resource for the analysis stage of permaculture design.

ANGB is an Australian Government organisation. ANGB’s website provides a comprehensive index of Australian native plants, including photographs, botanical databases, statistics and identification information. A useful reference resource for researching native plants and their natural climates and ecosystems.

Another non-profit organisation, Renew provides independent advice on sustainability. It has two publications and further independent research on the effectiveness of environmentally sustainable techniques, architecture and designs. Additional free resources include non-commercial calculators for a range of products (e.g. solar), and community forums.

An online community for permaculture enthusiasts. It has an active forum for questions and sharing resources, and videos, articles and podcasts on a range of permaculture topics such as The realities of practical permaculture. They also publish detailed permaculture book reviews, providing a quick list of reliable further reading.
