Passionate about life-long learning, local history and archives. I am in my final year of a Bachelor of Information studies with specialization in Archives and Record Management. I currently work as an Access Services Officer with the Public Record Office Victoria at the Ballarat Archives Centre. I am also an experienced library technician and I have worked in a variety of information agencies in a number of varied roles ranging from customer service officer to technical positions within government and non-government libraries.

ACCESS SERVICES OFFICER, PUBLIC RECORDS OFFICE VICTORIA (PROV)
My duties include providing reading room support, research, indexing projects and outreach and community engagement activities. I am also responsible for issuing and returning records, providing conservation and preservation assistance. I also provide a reference service for clients in person, via phone and online.

My duties included varied responsibilities in assisting clients using a range of technological services such as mobile printing, photocopying and accessing internet services. I also undertook circulation duties, shelving and shelf tidying, reservations and assisting in various library programmes, such as story time.

My duties included assisting clients with information enquiries about collection items. I also assisted clients with photocopying, scanning, printing and computer enquiries. I was responsible for preparing staff rosters; and opening and closing the library. I also managed the magazine collection including standing orders and monograph acquisitions and undertook copy cataloguing duties. I also designed and delivered an online course to Club members titled: “An introduction to Family History Research”. In addition, I organized outreach activities for the library community and authored articles for the library online newsletter.

My duties included original cataloguing of historical collections including works on paper, glass plates, lantern slides and general photographic material. Other duties included digitizing historical collection items using assorted scanners and AdobePhotoShop software to process raw images. I also linked digitized images to the catalogue record using Voyager Library Management System. I was responsible for cataloguing large picture collections such as the Robin Boyd Architectural Collection and the Rennie Ellis social collection. Other duties included spreadsheet cataloguing, shelving boxes and preparing collection reports.

• Local & Family History – provide assistance in genealogical research and local history using a variety of historical resources.
• Library cataloguer I have worked as a general cataloguer and picture cataloguer with Victorian Government organizations.
• I work with Archival CMS to process, and circulate and return records. • Library management systems – I have worked with a range of library management systems using cataloguing and circulation modules. Examples include Dynix, DB Text works and Voyager.
• Outreach & Community engagement – I have planned and delivered targeted workshops to a number of local historical societies on conducting family history research using the PROV catalogue and web- based guides.

INTERESTS
I am interested in digital preservation and I am an advocate for participatory archiving so that communities’ and their stories are told. I am passionate about digital literacy skills for the community and I develop workshops and outreach activities to improve digital skills for clients which will enable them to access information and knowledge that will improve their life skills and contribute to greater employment opportunities.
