You will write 250 words about your experience and impressions as you begin this course, noting any challenges already encountered.
These challenges might be to your expectations of the course and what it will be like to study, or to the ideas and knowledge you bring with you to study, or they could be emotional challenges. You do not need to explore them in depth, just note that they are there. However, if you want to discuss the challenges, feel free!
The reason you are asked to contextualise your experience and impressions is to add meaning to your reflection. If you reflect on events in the context of your existing experience, culture and understanding, your reflection will be framed in a place that is authentic and meaningful to you. From there you can commence your learning journey and grow your understanding of human and animal interactions.
Your post should demonstrate that you have attempted to follow a reflective process and understand why reflective writing is important. You may choose to use the DIEP strategy outlined here, or another process … there just needs to be evidence that you have reflected on your experience and impressions.
As set out in the Subject Outline you do not need to be overly formal in your reflective writing, but your post should be logically structured, in clear English, and proof read carefully. If you are referencing sources, use APA 7 style.
And by the way, this is what 250 words looks like in Thinkspace!
