For my ‘connect’ quiz the outcome that I received was ‘Intrepid Intermediate.’

Living in the day and age that we do, having technology advancing every day, and living in a generation who turns to technology to be the forefront of assistance whether it be to talk to friends or family, connect professionally, or to find resources, I was rather surprised that my result came back as ‘intrepid intermediate.’ Being in a generation that is quite technology dependant I thought that my results would have shown as a higher level.  Following this result, it has made me more eager to delve deeper into the digital realm to be able to communicate, research to an increased level and to expand my knowledge.

This outcome has proven that whilst I am still in a mainstream category, there is still quite a lot to learn to achieve a higher level of digital literacy. Learning things such as the difference between synchronous versus asynchronous can then help to improve the way that we use technology to be able to communicate with others and achieve the results that we are looking to achieve in a quicker timeframe. For example, if I am wanting to connect professionally, I would now use an asynchronous platform such as LinkedIn. I was previously only using platforms such as email to communicate professionally with those in my team however I have learnt that if I use LinkedIn, I can now connect with those out of the normal circle of communication, such as those in different properties or levels in my organisation. Whist I was setting up my professional profile I have realised that I was missing out on so many communication platforms that I could have utilised professionally at work. Since learning about the synchronous verses, the asynchronous platforms, I can now identify what platform will perform and give the results for the desired task or communication I am trying to achieve.

To ensure that I have the best personal learning environment possible I will now be focusing on making sure that my I have a greater hold on my social media devices to ensure that I will be able to connect better with those around me whether that is professionally or personally. I believe that connecting online is incredibly important as this is a whole new platform to be able to connect and interact with those in your workplace, in your desired field of study or even as an everyday kind of resource.  If you could take up an opportunity to expand your knowledge and find further resources, why wouldn’t you take up this opportunity?  I also believe that it is very important to share our knowledge and tips with others to help improve our digital footprint collectively, this will then create a higher professional level of communication personally, through jobs and in the field of studying that you are interested in.

Now that I have this knowledge and skill set, I will continuously utilise this information to try and get to the highest level of digital literacy that I can achieve to improve personally and professionally.
