Deep Learning: Mining of Visual Content

Abstract: Deep learning is a subset of machine learning and is very vital for the flourishment of artificial intelligence as in robotics, autonomous cars, and other equipment, detection of fraudulent activities, neurobiology, military applications, deep fakes etc. Nath and Levinson (2014) stated that Machine learning attempts to learn from available data which leads to artificial intelligence(pp. 1-3). According to Lin et al. (2019) Over the years machine learning and the artificial intelligence has seen a rapid progress especially deep learning and its foundations are neural networks (pp 3-13).

Project Problem Domain: The world has turned around the Data for now quite a time that is why learning, developing, and inventing new techniques in this field is very important. According to Zemmari and Benois-Pineau (2020) Deep learning is the core reason of the advancement in Artificial Intelligence and digital visual information is constantly bulking up. Digital Computer Vision and Robotics visual information is based on the use of deep learning. (Chap.1). Considering the impacts of deep learning and imaging its use is going to be increased more in the present and in future as well, I chose this topic. Research question for this topic is ready and the final refinements are underway.

Background: This is a workplace project as it will help me out to get the most out of my studies. Each task will take my skillset to the next level and will assist me to develop expertise in my chosen field.

Project Aim/Objective: Aim of this project is to explore the techniques of Visual Mining using deep learning. We will discuss convolutional neural network and dynamic networks to research on visual mining. The main purpose of this research is to come up to the conclusion about the efficiency and limitations of the neural network technique.

Deliverables/Outcomes: This research is for the Data Scientists, researchers, students, and professionals.

  1. Project Proposal and Plan
  2. Annotated Bibliography
  3. Final Report
  4. Final Presentation
  • Every milestone in this research will deliver some information about the neural network technique.
  • The result will show us the efficiency and limitations of this technique. However, this research will explore dynamic content mining to overcome the limitations of this technique.
  • We will explore the importance and opportunities this field represents now and in future. By the end of this research, a clear understanding

Resources: Resources are important for research purposes and considering it, I have opted for Books, Journals from IEEE, Science Direct, Google scholars etc.

Alignment: My specialization is in Data Science and my research work is exactly aligned with my specialization. Deep learning is a subset of machine learning which in turn is integral fragment of Data Science. This research will induce in me a deeper sense and knowledge about the field. Deep learning is crucial and very important; thus, this research project will help me in career academically and practically.
